RIT in the News: The RIT model
You say things often enough, people actually remember! Perhaps that’s why the editorial board at the Democrat and Chronicle offered a nod to RIT President Albert Simone this past weekend:
There’s no question that President Simone’s crusade to make RIT a more diverse community, particularly among its faculty, makes us a better and stronger university. Over the years, University News has been successful in placing stories on the “RIT model” with various local, national and trade publications.
So whats the value of good PR? Well, if you have a good story, and you keep telling, eventually the story begins to practically tell itself.
You can read more about President Simone's thoughts on diversity on his website: www.rit.edu/president. Here you will find two important papers/speeches: 1) "Meeting the Global Challenge Through Diversity," written earlier this year. 2) "An Inclusive America," his 2003 Convocation speech to graduates. President Simone believes America won't prosper in the future unless minorites are in key positions and studying in the areas of science, technology, math and engineering.
