RIT in the News: The AP Jackpot

Okay, I realize we cite him a lot, but bare with me.

Eugene Fram, the J. Warren McClure Research Professor in RIT’s College of Business, is still the King of ProfNet. ProfNet, you ask? ProfNet is a service we subscribe to at University News where journalists from across the country contact us, and other university PR department, in search of various experts.

Recently, Associated Press reporter Andrew Ryan sent out a request for insights on smaller communities trying to ban big-name chains from setting up shop in town. Of course, anything retail is right up Professor Fram’s alley. He wasted little time reaching out to the reporter, ultimately resulting in Ryan quoting Professor Fram in that story.

So, what’s the big deal? Well, it’s the Associated Press! Most daily newspapers across the country subscribe to AP, so there’s no telling at this point how many of these newspapers might run the story. Here it is on the Boston Globe’s Web site, for example:

Dozens of other newspapers may yet pick up the story, allowing millions of potential readers to share the insights of an RIT expert. That’s the AP jackpot!
