NTID news on the pages of News & Events

I was unsure about my latest blog posting until a late afternoon phone conversation with Karen Black from National Technical Institute for the Deaf’s media relations department. When I called her to confirm information in a couple of stories, she was pleasantly surprised to learn that three NTID stories—including two features—along with a few faculty/staff Newsmakers, would be running in the Feb. 8 issue of . While we try to avoid running multiple stories from the same college or department in one issue, we were light on copy and the NTID stories had been held from previous issues.

In addition, the NTID news was, well, newsworthy. These include: a $1.1 million gift to PEN-International to further deaf education on a global scale; seven NTID women breaking communication barriers to serve the Rochester community by building a Habitat for Humanity house in a historic neighborhood; and the honor of receiving a national freedom award from the U.S. Department of Labor.

It’s clear to me that NTID news dominates this week. But, it’s great news to report, and the recognition is well deserved.
